Double Eleven scores big at Best New Business Awards

At Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium Double Eleven received a Creative Industry Award, and even more impressive won the overall winner at the 2011 Best New Business Awards.

Founded by former lead Rockstar Leeds software engineers, Double Eleven is a white-hot technology led games development studio comprising of some of the most talented and forwarding thinking people in the industry. The company has a rich history of award winning, technically stunning titles behind the collective group.

“I am extremely proud of what we have achieved at the awards. Although we are a new company, myself along with our senior members of staff have been in this industry for several years and have experienced both ends. Collectively we have translated these experiences into a strong, adaptive and growing business. The awards last night were a testament to this effort,” said Lee Hutchinson, CEO of Double Eleven.

The Best New Business Awards was created to recognise successful new businesses in the Tees Valley.

The award for the 2011 overall winner was presented by Colin Brown I.F.A of Lighthouse Temple LTD. Colin commented “It’s not easy setting up a successful business in these challenging times so what all the entrants have achieved is to be loudly applauded. It was great to see such enthusiasm from Double Eleven when they won.

“The award are a showcase of just how well the region’s small businesses are doing - we’ve a lot to be proud of here. The awards have a history of recognising local companies that then go on to become successful regional, national and even global companies. I’m confident that will be repeated by Double Eleven.”

Lee went on to say, “There’s no magic formula to this, we do amazing things because we have amazing people and they have earned theses awards.”

Our Games

The original Frozen Synapse was released in 2011, developed by indie studio Mode 7. It has since sold over 430,000 copies and received great critical acclaim, reaching an incredibly respectable score of 85 on Metacritic - including five stars from The Escapist and 9/10 from Edge.

We saw it as an excellent title to bring to PSN. Its revolutionary play style works exceptionally well in multiplayer, offering a whole new competitive model that is perfect for the Vita. Users can play multiple games concurrently, making it unlike any other online experience on the platform.

The single-player campaign has a deep and engrossing storyline and works as a great introduction to the skirmish and PvP modes. We believe it’s a great all-round game. Some of our team were playing it on lunch breaks before Mode 7 and ourselves had even began speaking about the potential for working on this project.

We don’t want to give too much away on what we plan to do with it, but ‘Frozen Synapse: Tactics’ is not simply a transition of the original onto console; we will be giving it a complete Double Eleven makeover.

It’s scheduled for release later in 2013, so keep an eye on our website and Facebook and Twitter pages for updates.
